Is There Anything Wrong with Letting AI Write a Piece?
Have you heard of Betteridge’s law of headlines?
So, let me get this straight.
- It’s OK to use AI to generate the pictures you use to illustrate your articles.
- It’s OK to use AI to do the (boring) market research at work.
- It’s OK to use AI to generate the minutes and the next steps of the meetings.
But it’s not OK to ask AI to write an article for you?
Grammarly’s AI is OK to catch typos but not to rephrase. Digital cameras that autofocus and adjust exposures are OK, and these still count as your pictures, but it’s not OK to use filters on Instagram.
I read a piece by Philip Ogley last week.
As you can see, I stole his title (which is allowed because I’m human). And, as usual, Philip didn’t push his reasoning all the way. Maybe he was scared to ask the real question, which is the one in my title.
