Pendulum Completes Substrate Builders Program Milestone One
Substrate Builders Program has allowed Pendulum to tap into the resources of Parity and pass the first milestone. This milestone includes setting up a playground UX/UI, becoming a parachain on Rococo, and publishing docs and tutorials.
What is Substrate Builders Program
The Substrate Builders Program supports and mentors teams like Pendulum that are building projects on Substrate. The program offers comprehensive assistance and advice from Parity in areas such as technical and ecosystem support. For teams like Pendulum who are building from scratch it helps problem solve and facilitate creativity.
Pendulum has completed the evaluation phase and building phase milestone 1, roll on milestone 2.
Milestone One Completed
Milestone 1 can be divided into the achievement of 3 deliverables:
- Set up a playground environment UX/UI
- Become a Parachain on Westend/Rococo
- Publish docs and tutorials
1. See the code links below for the first deliverable of setting up a playground UX/UI. The objective was to build a unified interface for developers who want to build on Pendulum
- Smart contracts playground (canvas UI fork):
- Webapp
- Node (especially the legacy-bridge branch)
We are excited to have our community start to experiment with these features!
2. Projects can choose to become a Parachain on Westend or Rocco. We decided to deploy to our own internal Rococo testnet. Having a self-hosted testnet will provide us with the complete flexibility of testing our features along with shorter turnaround times and also help avoid any external dependencies that can halt our development cycle. While launching our testnet (relay chain + parachain) we faced a few hiccups and thought a few things could be automated here. Hence, we developed Pendulum-Launch which is a tool for launching a parachain from a static configuration. Code links:

Future Milestones
We look forward to completing the remaining two major milestones of the Substrate Program. In summary these milestones are:
Milestone 2
- Integrate Spacewalk (Stellar bridge pallet) on Pendulum
- Roll out Pendulum WebApp v2 (a portal for core Pendulum services)
- Roll out general liquidity AMM v2 (Uniswap v2)
- Get current testnet production-ready
Milestone 3
- Roll out an AMM optimized for fiat tokens
- Reserve chain integration e.g. State{mint/mine}
- Prepare for parachain auction: set up crowdloan infrastructure
- Research MEV protection solutions
