Deep Jariwala Invited to Frontiers of Engineering Symposium

Deep Jariwala

Deep Jariwala, Assistant Professor in Electrical and Systems Engineering, has been invited to the National Academy of Engineering’s 2019 US Frontiers of Engineering Symposium.

The highly selective event takes place in Charleston, South Carolina in late September and brings together 100 of the nation’s outstanding young engineers.

Jariwala will be presenting on the potential applications of atomically thin photovoltaics. These solar panel components consist of stacked layers of 2-D materials; experimental measurements have shown they are they can achieve experimental absorbance greater than ninety percent.

Jariwala’s research lies at the intersection of solid-state opto-electronics and emerging low-dimensional materials. Specifically, he combines new techniques to assemble, grow and integrate nanostructured materials, including molecular materials with state-of-the-art nano-fabrication methods to create novel electronic and photonic devices.
