More than 80 Penn Engineering students, faculty and alums attended the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing conference in Houston, Texas September 26–28. The conference is the world’s largest gathering of women technologists in the world and inspires women to be computer scientists and companies to create diverse teams and inclusive work environments.

The Grace Hopper Celebration’s keynote featured talks from Jessica O. Matthews, Founder & CEO, Uncharted Power, Padmasree Warrior, CEO & Chief Development Officer, NIO U.S. and others.

The Grace Hopper Celebration is produced by AnitaB.org in partnership with the Association of Computing Machinery. Grace Hopper was an American computer scientist and a United States Navy rear admiral. A pioneer of computer programming, she developed the first compiler, which converted English terms into machine code, and led to the development of the COBOL language.
