With New 4WD Car, Penn Electric Racing Adds to Its Trophy Collection

Penn Electric Racing’s REV5 placed third overall at Formula SAE Lincoln Electric, the premier student racecar competition in North America. Damage from a rainstorm prevented it from entering all of the racing events, but its new four-wheel-drive motors and improved battery allowed it to make up the difference in other performance categories.

PER partnered with CelLink Corporation to design and manufacture REV5’s cutting-edge battery interconnect. The laser-welded flexible circuit (above center) integrates individual cell fusing, voltage and temperature sensing, and current carrying functionalities into a single robust part.
