What is SMedian

SMedian is where thousands of Medium writers and hundreds of Medium publication editors meet to grow together. SMedian lets editors grow their publication by more easily and efficiently attracting new writers who give their readers more to read. Writers grow by tapping into the existing audience of various publications that are either established or taking off when new writers arrive. Writers also grow by promoting themselves on the SMedian network where editors or potential employers can find them.

SMedian is home to some of the fastest growing publications and noteworthy writers. For those publications and writers who are just getting their start, SMedian helps them grow their wings and find their audience.

But there’s more…

SMedian Embeds

Have you ever watched a youtube video in a Medium article? Have you ever filled out a Google Form or a signup form in a Medium article? Each are those are simple embeds, powered by Embedly, that enabled the writer to do more with their content. SMedian now lets you do way more with your content through its embeds.

Embed Banners

As a publication editor, I know that publications often run time sensitive promotions. To do this, an editor must create a promo image, come up with a title, and put together a message. Once they have those ingredients and a call to action with a link to the prize, they have to paste the promotion contents in all of their articles: paste the title, description, and the image. Once the promo contents are pasted in the article, the editor must then individually add the call to action link to each of the components of the promo. That’s one out of hundreds of articles down with way more to go. Once the promo has been added to all of the desired articles, the editor can rest. This can be very time consuming, but it is possible. I’ve done it.

But what happens when the promo expires? Now the editor and his/her team has to go back and change the title, description, image, and link for all of the hundreds of articles that include that promo. Now that is something that takes way too long to do, and so many editors choose to leave their stale promotions up and move on with new articles only for their new promo. That’s a shame because, on Medium, articles live forever and will definitely be read years down the road by hundreds or thousands of readers who may want the new promo. I’ve had this problem so many times that I decided to solve it through SMedian embeds:

That is a promotion banner that I embedded in this article with a single link after building it in my SMedian dashboard. I can embed this banner in all of my articles and when I need to update its contents, I simply do so one time via my SMedian dashboard and the changes are made across all of my articles. You will also be able to view the analytics for total clicks and unique clicks on your banners.

Learn how to embed these in your Medium articles on Medium’s Help Page.
