There used to be books here. Now it’s a new hacking space.

It’s 11:47 PM at PennApps, and hackers have begun to settle into their temporary offices/workshops/homes in Penn’s engineering quad.

Once home to shelves of engineering journals and books, Towne’s library has since been cleaned out for renovation. Construction is postponed, though, and PennApps is happy to have a huge, new hacking space in the meantime. Tables are piled high with laptops and water bottles, and the wires and screwdrivers of intrepid hardware hackers litter the floor.

JT, a Penn sophomore, is working on Intel’s cutting-edge Galileo development boards. It’s his first experience with using Arduino tech, and he and his team are excited to see what they can build at PennApps X.

In the meantime, Rita’s Water Ice is being served in Levine, and a 12:30 AM pizza run is getting ready to depart.

It’s 11:52 PM at PennApps.
