Penn Blockchain Club joins Hyperledger as an Associate Member
The Penn Blockchain Club is pleased to announce that it is now an Associate Member of Hyperledger, hosted by The Linux Foundation.
Members of Hyperledger help foster enterprise-grade open platforms for distributed ledgers for a multitude of different industries including Finance, Internet of Things, Supply Chain, Healthcare, and Manufacturing. The Penn Blockchain Club is excited to contribute to this great initiative. Our student-run club is comprised of talented engineers, business strategists, and legal experts from across all twelve undergraduate and graduate schools at the University of Pennsylvania. This unique composition positions us to be active and successful members of Hyperledger.
Our participation with Hyperledger will take on several formats, including educational, research, and development initiatives. Through our ongoing student-taught courses, workshops, and lunch and learn sessions, we will continue to teach both Penn and non-Penn students about blockchain technology, including Hyperledger Fabric and its alternatives. Through student and professor driven research, we will publish articles about consensus mechanisms and security practices as well as meta analyses of the growing blockchain ecosystem. Finally, The Penn Blockchain consulting arm has and will continue to build proof of concepts for our clients, both on Hyperledger Fabric and the Ethereum blockchain.
This is not the beginning of our relationship with Hyperledger. The Penn Blockchain Club hosted Brian Behlendorf, Executive Director for Hyperledger, at the Penn Blockchain Conference last April. We look forward to a continuing relationship with the leadership of Hyperledger and hope to invite them back to Penn’s campus for future workshops and conferences.
Only an Open Source, collaborative software development approach can ensure the transparency, longevity, interoperability and support required to bring blockchain technologies forward to mainstream commercial adoption.“ — Hyperledger
The Penn Blockchain Club is excited to join a distinguished group of open source collaboration and looks forward to playing an active role in the internet revolution.
