【Development Progress】
Penta Chain
1.Performed modifications on solidity compiler to form a Penta solidity smart contract compiler. This will support Penta smart contract compilation and new features such as the Penta account model: progress is 80% complete.
2.Continuing to develop DApp governance modules to support diversified smart contract messages. We are adding in an upgrade function for smart contract codes, which will provide developers with options to determine whether smart contracts support upgrades, ways to implement controls on level of authorization, and to customize for various business scenarios. Current progress is 20% complete.
3.Optimized messages of view change in DSC, continuing to enhance the consensus process for BFT in DSC.
4.Basic code review is ongoing: we are performing auditing and code analysis using tools such as gofmt, govet and golint to filter and adjust non-compliant and incorrect code.
PC Wallet Component and Graphic Interface
The development of the PC wallet user interface component is proceeding at the projected pace. This work is now in its test phase. Current overall progress is 92% complete:
1.Completed the code review of wallet components and penta-sdk-js.
2.Completed self-testing and delivered to QA testing.
3.The app and web version of the wallet is undergoing testing and current progress is 60% complete.
Penta Blockchain Explorer
Completed first stage of design and development for Penta’s blockchain explorer, meeting the timeline set out in Penta’s roadmap for this month:
1.Completed summary and content pages for the homepage, transaction, block and account information.
2.Completed pages for information related to Delegate and Witness nodes.
3.Started the second stage design of the explorer, which includes smart contract and graphic display functionalities.
【Ecosystem】
October 17, 2018: Penta Labs and MIT International Science and Technology Innovation Organization (MISTI) formed a strategic partnership. The two parties will cooperate on a blockchain training program as well as an exchange program. The partnership will also establish focused fintech and blockchain related research topics within the next five years, officially launching The Penta Blockchain “Big Voyage” talent search.
October 22nd, 2018: Penta announced its “Global Enterprise Community” program for the first time. Penta believes that the blockchain industry is experiencing a “death valley” phase, which is a significant hurdle for blockchain to overcome in order for this pioneering technology to transition towards large-scale applications. The Penta Enterprise Community uses public blockchain technology to empower all types of businesses around the world, and forms a community of businesses and developers focused on solving real economic problems. By providing enterprises with commercial grade applications, the Penta Enterprise Community seeks to reestablish confidence in the value of blockchain, and thereby to promote mainstream blockchain application. The Penta Team believes this strategy is revolutionary and departs from the current market focus on monetizing the existing crypto investor pool. Instead, Penta is focused on opening new markets and empowering new businesses and communities with blockchain. Several partnerships are already underway within the Penta Enterprise Community, including projects in the film and food supply chain industries, as well as smart cities and non-profit efforts in the public sector.
【Marketing Activities】
October 1, 2018 (Los Angeles): Penta CEO David Ritter announced that Penta had formed a joint venture with Union Editorial, a well known company in Hollywood that specializes in post-production for films, commercials, and also produces films. The partnership will be bringing a Penta Enterprise Community product to market in the coming months.
October 5, 2018 (San Francisco): Penta CEO David Ritter was invited to attend the 2018 Blockchain Summit hosted by Global Blockchain Foundation in San Francisco. There he joined a panel discussion moderated by an editor from TechCrunch. The panel discussed differences between the United States and East Asia in terms of blockchain investment. David emphasized his belief that blockchain is a global movement and marketplace, with many market centers, including the US, China, South Korea, the UK, and more. Asked to compare Asian market centers with the US, David responded, “Governments in Asia are investing billions of dollars into supporting the development of blockchain technology. So, in some key areas, we [the U.S.] are falling behind.”
October 10, 2018 (Santa Monica): David and Penta Ecosystem Leader, Alan Finkel, were invited to participate in the Blockcon Conference in Santa Monica, California. The event was attended by many high profile speakers, including Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize winner and founder of the Grameen Bank. David spoke with Professor Yunus during the conference on ways that blockchain technology can be used for social impact and to solve difficult societal problems. Inspired by his conversation with Professor Yunus, David posted on Twitter and Wechat about Penta’s commitment to participate in “Blockchain for good” projects. Penta is currently working with the United Nations and city governments on blockchain-for-impact projects.
October 13th, 2018 (Seattle): David attended the 2018 Blockchain Exhibition hosted by the University of Washington Blockchain Society. During the event, David shared the Penta Team’s vision for Penta Labs, which hopes to work with universities worldwide to establish blockchain education opportunities.
October 25th, 2018 (Denver): David attended the Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s 10th Anniversary Gala, an event that included several Hollywood movie stars. David called on Penta followers to pay more attention to the Down Syndrome community. David has also called on the blockchain community to focus on building “blockchain for good” solutions that solve real world problems.

October 15th, 2018: Penta CEO David Ritter conducted an interactive live broadcast with Chinese community fans on the broadcast platform Yi Zhibo (ID: 132642867), discussing the biweekly report and sharing Penta’s latest developments.
[Community Activity]
October 1, 2018 (Korea): The Penta community in Korea published a magazine article about Penta, following an interview between Penta CEO David and Korean media during David’s trip to Seoul Korea for the Huobi Chain event.
October (Uganda): Penta Ambassador Kule Wilson hosted meetups at Kim University and African Ark Institute of Technology, where he introduced Penta and DSC consensus to 200 students and faculty. He also met with Buzen Technologies to talk about partnership opportunities, and has been in discussion with the office of he Ugandan Agricultural Minister on ways Penta’s blockchain technology can offer innovative solutions to some of Uganda’s economic problems in the agricultural sector.
This week, the Penta Chinese community released three rounds of bonus activities to Penta fans, including collecting eggs for poster sharing during the October holiday, raffles from October 10–14, and airdrop activities from October 18–22. More than 2,000 community members participated in the events.
