Pitches should always captivate the audience

Podium Star is disrupting the traditional pitch competition model in order to strengthen the Korean startup ecosystem. Unlike other pitch competitions where startups are left on their own, Podium Star works with startups directly to perfect their investor pitch.

The workshop includes storytelling experts who help each team craft their story

First there’s the intensive full-day workshop (hosted by PowerPT), where startups receive 1-on-1 training from experts in marketing and design. Each team is assisted in finding their unique message and creating beautiful, simple slides. There’s also the filming of Vision60, a professionally produced video that welcomes each startup on stage. When all is said and done, the startups are invited to a networking dinner where they further build connections and discuss future collaboration.

And don’t forget the judges. On pitch day, prominent investment and marketing experts are invited to give actionable feedback on the pitches. The judges also stay for the networking party, where startups have a chance to rub elbows with investors and potential customers.

The winners of the first four events, Elastic Live, Innopresso, GIVE.asia, and Ocean & Tech, all come from different industries. But they share two things in common — having a powerful story and strong vision. In fact, most successful businesses master the art of storytelling to connect with their audiences on an emotional level. And their visions will spread even further at Seoul Pitch Day, a competition that brings in pitch winners from all over the area.

As Podium Star has evolved over the past few months, partnerships with major organizations have been developed in order to create an even greater experience for the startups. And people are taking notice. Podium Star averages 100 visitors in a space limited to just eighty. So where do we go from here?
