Recently, we consulted several startups for an acceleration project at PowerPT. After learning about the startups, we decided that the world needs to know more about them, too! So, without further ado, check out these four up-and-coming Korean startups.

  1. Deep Visions

How well do you trust the weather forecast? If you’re like most people, the answer is probably — not much. But even when the weather is wrong, your health isn’t directly affected.

But what about the forecast that measures the outside fine dust pollution? This forecast may influence your decision to spend time outside in dangerous pollution — or not. This is where Deep Visions comes in.

Deep Visions has developed the first smartphone app to capture fine dust levels, so anyone can measure the pollution levels around them. Now, you don’t need to rely on inaccurate forecasts!

The Deep Visions team has four patents, awards from the Korean Meteorological Agency, Ministry of Environment, and national news coverage from MBC and Hankook Ilbo. The co-founding team boasts members who previously launched a fintech startup in Southeast Asia and have a PhD in biostatistics from the University of Pittsburgh. Read more about them here.

2. Things Flow:

Being a young adult is hard. Your body, love life, education choices, and career paths are all constantly changing, which can be very confusing to teenagers and those in their 20s. Because of these changes, this is also a time when many experience stress, loneliness, and anxiety. It’s the perfect time to lean on your best friends. But in today’s world, more and more, we need virtual solutions to life’s problems.

This is where Hellobot comes in. Hellobot is a chatbot that’s ready to listen to your problems anytime, anywhere. Simply choose a character to talk to, then discuss topics including entertainment, fortune telling, or mental health.

With over 30 million users, Hellobot can recognize up to 15,000 phrases based on user data, and even connect you to new friends like a matchmaker! Learn more about Hellobot here.

3. Data Universe : http://www.datauniverse.co.kr/

Data Universe is working to create a more secure world for you and your family. They’ve developed an anti-scamming solution against phone scams.

Unfortunately, there are many people unaware of current frauds due to a lack of information. And the financial damages are heavy.

But Data Universe helps the public learn about new frauds with awareness campaigns. And then, their app can send real-time scam alerts and aid to victims of frauds and scams.

The good news? They’re monthly subscription is just $1.50. And their 500,000 users can choose to download their app, or simply receive SMS notifications. Easy! Learn more about them here.

4. Fincatch

Fund managers and traders are busy people. This is because buying and selling funds is a long and tedious process requiring placing orders over the phone, filling out documents, and much more. These tedious processes are a waste of time. And incredibly inefficient.

So, Fincatch helps fund managers increase their efficiency. They are developing a program that makes fund managers’ lives much more simpler and efficient.

With Fincatch, fund managers can sell all of their funds in just one simple click, saving tons of valuable time a day, so they can focus on more productive tasks, like selling.

Although Fincatch was just founded in June of 2020, they’ve already achieve impressive traction, including joining the K-Global Accelerator Program in Korea, and signing two agreements with accelerators in China. They’ve also raised $100,000 in their seed round, and joined the Seoul Fintech Lab’s incubator.
