We had a busy summer at PowerPT. And just like the Bryan Adams song, we’ve created a lot of memories, too. Keep reading to learn about our favorite projects of the summer.

Summer of ’69 by Bryan Adams came out in 1985.

Techstars Founder Catalyst Program

This is a 6-month program where Techstars is supporting 12 Korean startups with growth and mentorship. It’s part of the wider Global Startup Academy run by KISED, a Korean government body that supports startups. This was a more hands-on role, as I was asked to join as the EIR (entrepreneur-in-residence) for the program. Watching startups grow is incredibly rewarding, so it’s no surprise that it’s been one of my personal favorite programs.

KISED Global Pitching Program

In another project with KISED, PowerPT helped 36 startups in their quest for foreign VC investment. Our investment consultants and graphic designers spent hours creating new pitch decks and one-pagers for each team. Half of the teams were in Vietnam and under strict quarantine due to rising COVID-19 cases, meaning this project was completed 100% virtually.

500 Startups — Corporate Innovation Program

500 Startups has been rapidly increasing their presence in Asia, especially relating to corporate innovation programs. One of their recent projects was with LG U+, where teams of three worked on new business ideas to pitch to C-level executives, including the CEO. We led a workshop on how to successfully pitch to corporate stakeholders. Although this picture doesn’t show it, the teams were super engaged and active!

Gaining traction for the US market

Sometimes, startups need a little momentum when entering new markets. That was the case for nearly three dozen early-stage startups who came to us for help. Although they’re building some really amazing products, they just didn’t have much visual traction to show for it. After brainstorming, we decided to help them apply for specific awards and accelerator programs. Success with one of these may just give them the boost they need to get noticed by important investors and customers.

What’s coming next?

Stay tuned to see what else we’re up to. And if you’re interested in working with us, reach out. Also, don’t forget that Podium Star (ESG Edition) is coming back on October 20! If you’re a startup or organization that wants to get involved in Korea’s #1 pitch event, visit www.podiumstar.org. We’d love to work with you.
