“JokkoSanté is a health-focused digital payments app that improves accountability in the local health system in Senegal by tracking medicines and enabling payments for health services,” according to the USAID annoucement. “The desktop and mobile app allows patients to earn ‘points’ for turning in unused medicines rather than giving them to family members or friends, which has the potential to cause harm.”

JokkoSanté is one of five winners out of 400 applications, from 68 countries, by organizations with innovative health care solutions.

Kane said the impact of his app includes: 42300 lives impacted, 100% under poverty line; no out-of-pocket payments; 5000 e-prescriptions delivered; 27 hospitals, medical centers & pharmacies enrolled; 100 health professionals trained; 27 Hospitals, Medical Centers & Pharmacies enrolled

“Our next goal in 2020 is to launch in Mali and Burkina Faso,” Kane said.
