Spring 2017 Updates for Bearface Products

Since 2015, when our first Bearface brand learning and assessment products were published, the number of enrolled students have doubled each year. Based on current school adoptions, enrollments in 2017 will exceed 24,000 students.

Perceivant is committed to relentless innovation and development of our instructional technologies and courseware. In partnership with faculty and students, we will continue to revise and update content, and release new instructional technology each semester.

We are excited to announce these new features and content updates that will be released Summer 2017!

BearTracks™ Mobile App

The BearTracks™ mobile application will enable students to use their iOS or Android mobile devices to complete and submit self-assessments and fitness labs. The beta version of BearTracks™ Mobile will be released this summer.

The beta release of the BearTracks™ mobile app will include these features:​

  • User profile: Students will be able to view and update elements of their personal information.
  • Bearface online platform integration: The BearTracks™ mobile app will integrate with the Bearface learning platform so that the BearTracks™ mobile app can be used with Bearface courseware.
  • Instructor-assigned labs and self-assessments will appear in the app with due date and complete \ not complete check-mark

  • Gradebook integration: Completed self-assessments and labs report to the gradebook
  • Assignment Notifications (Reminders): Text messages will remind students of upcoming assignments
  • Lab Instructional Videos: Instructional videos links will be available to demonstrate fitness lab procedures and techniques.
  • Lab History: Students will be able to view a history of their results for each self-assessment and lab.

Prioritized by the need of schools using 21st Century Wellness or FitQuest, the summer beta release of BearTracks™ Mobile will include a number of our most widely used fitness labs including the Rockport Walk Test, Well-being Assessment, and Push-Up Test.

New Sport and Activity Modules

In addition to the 14 sport and activity modules currently available in FitQuest, we will publish new content modules that cover 8 additional sports and activities. Those activities are:

  • Archery
  • Badminton
  • Sand Volleyball (Volleyball is published)
  • Soccer and Futsal
  • Karate
  • Bicycling — Indoor and Outdoor
  • Modern Dance
  • Touch and Flag Football

Each module will include:

  • E-textbook chapter that covers sport history, clothing and equipment, rules and etiquette, strategies, skills and technique, and safety.
  • Video demonstrations of skills and techniques
  • Skills and knowledge self-assessment
  • Discussion assignments
  • Reflection assignments
  • Quiz questions \ test bank
