Accelerating technological advances and scientific breakthroughs are transforming society. Technologies such as artificial intelligence and automation are triggering profound changes across industries, re-shaping our everyday lives, and creating exciting new opportunities to improve quality of life, but also risks, dislocations, and ethical concerns.

As a society, we need to ensure that our policies and regulations keep up with these technological advances so that we can benefit from the opportunities while also managing the risks. To that end, we are excited to announce that Perceptive Automata has joined the World Economic Forum’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Network (WEF C4IR).

C4IR’s vision is to shape the development and application of emerging technologies for the benefit of humanity — this closely aligns with our mission at Perceptive Automata to help deploy autonomous vehicles that can interact safely and smoothly with everyone on the road. We like C4IR’s human-centered approach to technological transformation and their goal to collaborate with every stakeholder across industries and disciplines, globally.

In an effort to minimize the risks and maximize the benefits of advanced science and technology, the C4IR network will bring together private companies, governments, policymakers, and academics to design and develop pilot projects and initiatives that will be adopted by legislators and regulators all over the world. Perceptive Automata is joining the Autonomous and Urban Mobility portfolio to help develop the best strategies for global autonomous vehicle adoption that prioritize human safety and needs.

We will work alongside a growing team of mobility experts, including from large corporations such as Accenture, IBM, and Hyundai, from governments across the world, and other technology providers. Our projects will focus on safety regulations, societal benefits, equality and access, and the shaping of urban mobility choices.

We believe it is important to start to lay the global groundwork for emerging mobility technologies, including in particular autonomous driving, through global coordination, collaboration, and development of regulations and standards that address societies’ safety needs while also encouraging the ongoing investment in emerging technologies for the benefit of the many, not just the few.

We’re looking forward to engaging globally with key stakeholders in the mobility space, and the innovations that are sure to come out of this collaboration. Being part of a World Economic Forum organization is incredibly validating for us and we could not be more delighted to join WEF in “improving the state of the world.”
