Kilmacud Crokes win fifth All Ireland Football 7s Title

Hosts Kilmacud Crokes ended an 18-year wait to re-claim their All Ireland Football 7s Title with a consistent and composed team performance throughout. The highly competitive tournament saw reigning champions St. Galls and 2013 champions Corofin both lose out in their respective quarter-finals. Both Ulster and Leinster were represented in the final four with Monaghan side Truagh Gaels overcoming Carrickmore from Tyrone in a penalty shootout after the gamed ended in a draw. Kilmacud Crokes 6-point victory over Meath team Wolfe Tonnes confirmed a Dublin v Monaghan Final.

Kilmacud Crokes opened up an early lead in the final, going in at the break 3–03 v 0–05. The Monaghan men battled back strongly with Daniel McKenna’s penalty narrowing the maring but an inspiraitonal goal by Captain Pat Burke immediately after stemmed the comeback. With Burke, Mannion and Egan to the fore as they had been throughout supported by young Darragh Mullin the Crokes confidently closed out the game to claim their fifth All Ireland 7s title.
