Performance Enhancement in MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 16- Public Technology Preview -Sheet Index Properties
With latest performance improvements in every update, MicroStation offers its users ways to improve and enhance the quality of their work and with the upgraded Sheet Index improvements in Update 16, you will be able to work with Sheets within a design file efficiently.
The improved enhancements are made in the Explorer dialog which helps in managing multiple operations of the Sheet. You can now easily create folders, select multiple sheets, and make the sheet index writable or choose to keep it in read-only mode.
Note: Performance improvements of Sheet Index were exclusively made for the Explorer dialog in Update 16, There are more Performance improvement planned when we have the Properties Dialog Open
Mentioned below are the machine specifications that were utilized for the test.
Both MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 15 and Update 16 were used to run the tests.
Chart Content: The chart below represents the various datasets used from various platforms showing the time required to work with Sheet index in various operations such as Creating Folder, selecting multiple sheets and making the sheets index writable and read-only.
Graph Content:
- X Axis: Dataset
- Y Axis: Time In Seconds
Creating Folders
The average time required to create a folder in the Sheet Index earlier took about a minute or more on a average. This has now drastically dropped to 2–3 secs on an average for the design file with multiple sheets in it.
Selection of Multiple Sheets
The study for selection of multiple sheets in one particular folder is shown below. Dataset with a maximum of 375 files can now be selected within a few seconds.
Making Sheet Index Writable
The graph analysis for making Sheet Index Writable is given below.
Making Sheet Index Read-Only
The graph for making the Sheet Index Read-Only is mentioned below.
This study was done to help you understand the difference in the time required to various Sheet Index operations. The datasets used for the tests are from different verticals which help in evaluating the performance of MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 16 over Update 15
