A year ago this month, we bought a 120 year old Victorian home. We’ve come a long way since move-in day. Here are photos of the house at our 1-year mark. A work in progress. Here’s a few things we’ve knocked out so far:

  • Air conditioning
  • Curtains, blinds
  • Cleaning… everywhere. Again. Again.
  • Lights — working and to LED
  • Door locks — to smart combo locks
  • Carpet out of bathrooms
  • Tub pipe leak
  • Yard clean-up, dead tree clearing, mulch-making
  • Home gym project
  • Cabinet and drawer knobs (everywhere)
  • Garage doors
  • Brick walk-out (in progress)
  • Getting 5 of 6 exterior doors to open/close
  • Master bedroom 30 year old TV wall hole
  • Clean and restore antique door knobs
  • Re-wire 1920s light fixture
  • Switch plates, outlet covers, outlet replacements.
  • Smarthome upgrades: hub, motion detecting closet lights, smart switch, garage door, centrally controlled speaker system, thermostat, coffeemaker, locks. Next up is Arlo.
  • Hauled a treadmill to the 2nd floor. Deserves its own bullet. That shit was hard (see post on home gym project).

Disclaimer: removing flowery wallpaper, gutting the 80s bathroom, and replacing the random shower in the middle of a bedroom with a master bath are on the to-do list :-) #neverdone
