Set the date: November 19th — the officially proclaimed Women’s Entrepreneurship Day.

Women’s Entrepreneurship Day should be every day, but, on November 16th, 2018, the United Nations will be holding a summit to empower, celebrate, and support women in business. This summit plans to convene business leaders, social influencers, government officials, and the public. Their goal is to “collaborate and find solutions in critical areas of entrepreneurship ecosystems, education and policy creation to empower women in business”. By providing the right tools and financial resources, women across the globe can take the initiative and develop a prosperous community.

Launched in 2013 by social entrepreneur Wendy Diamond, Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization (WEDO) and its international campaign #ChooseWOMEN continues to advocate for women leaders and innovators in the economy. WEDO advances and educates communities on the importance of empowering women in business, especially in order to realize their full potential and change the world. Over the past five years, this organization has developed into a powerful network, reaching over five billion people. Currently, WEDO has a presence not only in the UN, but also in 144 countries and 65 universities internationally.

In the past year, the WED Summit at the UN granted 500 microloans to impoverished women to start their own business and sponsored 75 students from various academies across the country. Internationally, WEDO has funded 500 Syrian refugee girls to attend high school in Jordan and educated 1,000 rural women with financial literacy in the Philippines. All over the world, the Ambassador team makes a lasting impact and continues to do a brilliant job.

Don’t miss out and join the movement — whether it be at the summit, as a world ambassador, or a student ambassador! Check out their website here!
