To do or not to do?

Menstrual sex has been a topic of discussion for a while. And although it’s quite safe to have intercourse during your menstrual cycle, many prefer not to.

This may be due to the mess or generally feeling uncomfortable during your menses.

Nevertheless, menstrual sex actually has proven benefits:

  1. Relief from cramps

Menstrual sex can actually relieve cramps. Some women report of partially relieved pain or fully relieved pain. Furthermore, a study published in 2013 in Cephalalgia concluded that sexual activity may reduce migraine and headaches.

2. Shorter periods

Muscle contractions during an orgasm push out uterine contents resulting in shorter periods. Talk about a win-win situation!

3. Natural lubrication

Put away the lube!

A major advantage of menstrual sex is natural lubrication from the blood flow. This makes sex much easier and less painful.

4. Greater satisfaction

Most women feel more sexually aroused during their periods. As a result, they are more sensitive due to changes in the hormone levels. This extra sensitivity results in greater pleasure during sex.

However, this extra sensitivity may make it uncomfortable and even painful for others to have sex during this time. Find out what works for you.

Convinced that menstrual sex is good for you? Give it a shot!

Don’t be afraid of the mess, life is meant to be messy after all right?
