Amphibia Recap Season 2, Episode 13

When honesty is absolutely necessary.

Here it is, the episode that we’ve been waiting for since season one. Hop Pop is ready to dig up the music box and return it to Anne, but given how lucky the Plantars have been, drama ensues. And Anne finds out about Hop Pop’s deception in the worst way possible. But first, we get an Ivy episode now that the Plantars have returned to Wartwood.

“Imperfect parenting” is the theme for these two episodes. Ivy chafes under her mother’s strict teachings, while Hop Pop is forced to reveal that he fudged things up big time and why. As a result, their family runs away and endangers themselves. The adults both have to change their views while explaining their perspective. And that explanation brings understanding. While one episode hams up the humor, however, the other delivers the drama.

Ivy On The Run

Ivy starts the day by smashing her alarm bug. Before she can go glitterbug hunting with Sprig, however, her mother asks if she did her chores. Grumpily, she starts. Felicia nitpicks her dishwashing. Then the morning rush starts. Ivy is late to meet Sprig, and says she’s tired of her mother being hard on her. Sprig says that there has to be a reason…
