Happy Earth Day, everyone! It is a time to remember why we love our planet, and we do what we can to support nature. Easier said than done in this day and age of fear, but we can teach the next generation to appreciate, flora, fauna, and all the ecosystems out there.

I was very lucky that Candlewick Press sent out these review copies. All five seem very fitting for the holiday, and reminding us why nature is important.

Everyone Starts Small by Liz Garton Scanlon, Illustrated by Dominique Ramsey

This book talks about how different elements, flora, and fauna are connected. The sunlight feeds the trees and the plants, while the water from rain and rivers goes past. We may not see the roots growing underground or the insects feeding on fruit that falls to the ground, but everything is changing around us. Just watch out for the wind getting too strong, or the occasional wildfire.

I recommend reading this one as a bedtime story. The prose is quiet and lyrical. Even when we see devastation, we get reminders that nature heals when it receives the…
