The more episodes we get, the more that we can see why Disney executives cancel this show. It isn’t often we get a nonbinary character played by a nonbinary actor, in a completely serious role. We have to thank Steven Universe for paving the way while cursing executives that remain faceless and refuse to get with the times.

“Emotional connections” is the theme of this episode. Eda turns away from her kids, mistakenly believing that they will leave her for their “real” families when they get the opportunity, while her ex is willing to reconnect for more than love. Yet it turns out that she may be leaving behind the most important beings in her life. Said ex is also more than a giant dork with big dreams they also missed the intimacy while taking a look at the bigger picture.

Eda’s Requiem

Eda overhears King and Luz talking about a secret, and a decision that King is making. She gets bummed, especially when Luz reveals they’re entering a race so that King can get on television and send a message to his father. While getting a drink in the town pub, she tries to stop the Emperor’s Guards from taking a rebellious witch into custody. She needs some help from a resistance group, run by an old flame. Raine, a nonbinary witch, apparently used to hang with Eda a lot and blushes around her. Using they/them pronouns, Raine has…
