Let Lars Barriga Drive A Stolen Spaceship
Steven Universe was the bright spot of 2016–2020, though sadly it didn’t outlast a certain idiot fascist. It seems that a spinoff’s returning at the right time, albeit with a focus on a character who had his adventures offscreen.
That’s right, we’re finding out about Lars’s adventures as a space pirate. As Deadline reports, creator Rebecca Sugar announced at Annecy that Lars of the Stars returns to a world with the Crystal Gems, the Diamond Authority, and the Off-Colors. We’ll see the adventures that he had while Steven was rebuilding his life and figuring out his purpose.
Sugar mentioned that Time Warner and Cartoon Network had forced her to choose either doing a lesbian wedding or a great space battle in season five. She gave us the wedding, so now we are getting the space battle. It just will stream on Amazon Prime rather than Cartoon Network.
Obviously, such a story spoils what happens in season five of Steven Universe so you should watch that as well as the spinoff Steven Universe Future.
