Where Caesar Flickerman Stands Within the Hunger Games
To speak for killers and giving children a voice.
Caesar Flickerman is a mysterious character in The Hunger Games. He serves as the main commentator, but not seen as a villain compared to President Corolianus Snow. Instead, the protagonists view him as an ally who gives them a leg up with sponsors. His motives may not be pure, but his results can make the difference between life or death. Exploring his main three facets shows a layer of contradictions.
Note that this article contains SPOILERS for all the entries in the Hunger Games including the original trilogy, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and Sunrise on the Reaping.
Caesar the Sponsor
Katniss notes that you need to have Caesar Flickerman on your side if you participate in the Hunger Games. He will sell you but can also destroy a reputation in the blink of an eye if he dislikes you. A tribute would have to be very stupid or arrogant to roast Caesar; the year that Haymitch won his Hunger Games was the same when such a teen from District One insulted Caesar and got humiliated in turn.
