I can make Kim Kardashian live forever.

Love it or hate it, digital immortality should be available to everyone. It’s how we can choose to be remembered in the future.

We can’t upload our minds to computers just yet, but I think the first stage towards creating a digital entity has begun with chatbots.

Sure, most chatbots aren’t using natural language processing or learning information but they can do everything else.

They can display Q&A’s, videos, photo galleries and do basic small talk. That’s enough to serve as a meaningful persona bot.

And as we all know, chatbots are still just in their early stages.

My company, Persona Technologies focuses on building bots for public figures. So I spend most of my time thinking about how to build bots for people.

I’ve realized that every persona bot we build today will inevitably become a memorial bot in the future.

Of course, memorial bots don’t only apply to public figures.

Imagine if grandpa had a bot that answered Q&A’s about his life and showed photos and videos from the past. What would that mean to his grandkids?

I wish my grandfather had a bot. It would have given me and my daughter the opportunity to learn about him.

I’ve already started building a bot of my mom that will serve as a memorial bot in the future.

I’ve actually took it a step further by experimenting with recording her voice. I wrote about it here.

With that being said, the most meaningful memorial bots will be the ones that have the most content.

So that means we have to start creating these bots for the people we care about now.

I think it’s worth it.
