live to create :)

So many of us hide and are scared of our own abilities. We do not want to stand out so we blend into the crowd. What we do not know is we are doing the universe more injustice than justice by just watching and trying to hard to be normal, we live lives that numb our light and we bring ourselves to believing we need to stop being creative and live a “normal” life. Taking our light with us to the grave and being forgotten in time.

“Dear creative person, why are you not creating?”

I know what it feels like to be told your creativity isn’t going to put food on your table, or what it feels like to let all you friends know you want to pick up a creative hobby and you are scared that they would think you are a joker. A lot of creatives start out feeling very insecure about their works and some of these works would never see the light of day. If you are going to learn something from the article please learn this.

A creative mind that is confident and self aware is the most powerful tool any human could ever have.

Now we all are creative, the next step is learn how to be self aware of your strengths and weaknesses

HOW DID I BECOME SELF AWARE?

Well a series of events lead to me becoming more self aware and the most important one was depression.

Depression (major depressive disorder) is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Fortunately, it is also treatable. Depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease a person’s ability to function at work and at home.

Now it’s clear that a lot of youths are very depressed for multiple reasons and I was once deep in it as well. During the period I was depressed I tried a lot of things to try fix the depression and nothing worked…. until I stumbled upon meditation.

Meditation brings you closer to self

Relax by Ojima

The process of meditation is all about quieting the mind and coming back to the present. It is a mindful practice that enabled me to become aware of who I was and what makes me happy.

This is extremely important because the moment you find out who you are, what makes you uniquely different and you can accept that reality you become self aware and this becomes your super power.

Now we are all self aware it’s time to build self confidence

Self confidence is a byproduct of being self aware of all your flaws and strength but choosing to focus all your mental energy on your strengths.

We all suck at a lot of things and are good at a few. Being self aware lets you know what those things are. The next step to building your confidence is slowly working on those strengths, Now self confidence is a feeling of certainty in your abilities and intuitions and the certainty is built by actually working on your strengths. A lot of people choose too focus on why they are not good enough, and are making a conscious decision to dwell on their shortcomings instead of focusing on their strengths.

I used to be the same for a long time I loved creativity but I couldn’t not draw so I focused on that little shortcoming for a very long time. It wasn’t until I chose to focus on my strengths that I was able to learn photography and graphic design which allowed me to express my my creative side which was dormant for so long.

Trust your instinct.

Being self aware of your strengths is the most beautiful thing that could happen to you. Now, when this happens you would meet a lot of people that would try make you doubt your strengths. You have to remember that you are fully aware of what you are good at and the other person may not be, so you have to trust your instinct and keep building your confidence.

“Dear creative person, why are you not creating?”

So if you have read this post till this point it’s time to get practical.

  1. Write down a list of things that you are good at or interest you.
  2. Try doing all of them and show someone knowledgeable in that field and get their opinion on how you performed and how you can improve.
  3. Narrow that list to 1–3 things, strike out the things you didn’t do so well at and go all in on the ones you excelled at.
  4. Spend time everyday learning and creating around those things.
  5. CHANGE THE WORLD. THINK SENPAI
