People are asking us on slack or in telegram what’s the progress, where are we when we talk about Persona. Well, let’s see what we’ve been doing since the TGE ended.

Distribution of the contributions

We started the distribution on May 10, and as the people were filling their Persona address, we’ve continued to deliver the contribution. At this moment there are only 1,591,138.37822821 Persona tokens left to distribute.

We had some challenges here with people that filled either Ethereum addresses or no address at all.

Bounties

For bounties, we’re working with Bountyhive. They tracked the blog posts, the Facebook or twitter posts. They know how much Persona token each bounty participant has to receive. They’ve asked people that took part in the bounty program to fill their Persona address so they can receive the bounty. The deadline was June 7th, but like always, a lot of people either missed the deadline, inserted a wrong address (Persona testnet address or again, Ethereum). Right now they are parsed and checked manually. We’ve been assured that the Persona bounties are their number one priority and we expect to have the ready to be distributed as soon as possible.

Persona Core

As you are aware, last week, following the 127.0.0.1 loopback address attack on Ark, we were next. The attack caught us with the patch applied on the testnet but not on the mainnet. But the attack was on the mainnet so we had to take a decision. We protect the mainnet by applying a not enough tested patch or we continue testing the patch while the mainnet was under attack. Since the patch (that came from the Ark community) was only doing a peer verification we decided to apply it and protect the mainnet.

Next steps on the Persona Core:

  1. Forking Ark V2
  2. Launching in on our testnet
  3. Start developing the claim your identity mechanism, adding new transaction types, new dynamic fees.

Persona wallet

There are some issues with the Persona wallet. When we’ve launched our wallet, based on Ark Desktop wallet, we’ve missed some things. The only reason we insisted on having our own wallet was that we didn’t want people to be confused between Ark network and Persona network. We could have used from the start the Ark wallet, but in order to connect to Persona blockchain there are some settings to be made and we didn’t want to put people in that position.

Right now we’ve updated the wallet to Ark’s latest version. We are working on solving the “Ledger issue” which is due to the fact that we are using a different epoch than Ark is using. And there are some timestamp issues also to be solve.

Persona Explorer

The explorer, because it doesn’t have a node installed it’s querying the blockchain hence the lag in displaying the details. We’ve updated the explorer to the latest Ark’s explorer version, we’re installing the node on the explorer and by doing this we will fix also the SSL issue( even if there is no need for SSL for securing the explorer).

Product website

We’ve started to work on the Persona product website (design phase) . It’s important to change the current landing page which is TGE related and come up with a full fledged product website. This is very important because we need to start the marketing/pr efforts and we can’t have articles about Persona sending readers to TGE page.

Team

We’ve expanding our team, and we’ve hired three new developers. Their main focus is the backend. Two of them joined the team on June 14th while the third one will be joining the team on July 1st.

We’ve started to reorganize the github repo and once we fork Ark V2, besides developing Persona we will focus also on the documentation, so third party entities can do POC’s using Persona.

Marketing/PR

We are in the process of creating a PR and a conferences calendar, so we prepare things in advance and pick the right conferences to participate. Once we have the website ready, you should expect a lot more visibility on the Persona product.

Listed on exchanges

Since we are running Ark V1 and we are supposed to migrate to Ark V2 as soon as possible, there might be some reluctance on the exchanges side to list us. Also, besides the technic side of getting listed, the exchanges are charging a lot of money to even start talking with you. We’ve initiated the process of getting listed on some exchanges, but there are some legal aspects to be solved before getting listed. They request a letter from a lawyer stating that Persona token is an utility token and not a security token and to do so the lawyers ask for a company and some documents. We are in that stage, of providing documents to the lawyers. Getting listed is one of our priorities since the Persona token has to circulate and to have a higher distribution.

As things settle and we start delivering, you should expect periodic updates on the Persona status.

Thank you, Stefan
