6 Lovely Ways to Live a Purpose Driven Life
We desire to seek a purpose driven life — one of adventure, appreciation, and experience. But how do we begin on a path that will lead us to a life of purpose? Try these powerful tips.
Tip 1 — Rediscover Your Passions
Remember when you were a kid? You probably spent a lot of time doing things that made you happy. It may have been building close relationships, appreciating music, reading, learning new hobbies, playing, or cooking. As we get older, it’s easy to allow the daily grind of work to wither away our passions.
Make a pledge today. Do something that makes you happy — something you haven’t done in a long time.
Tip 2 — Appreciate Your Significant Other
It’s easy to become complacent and take your significant other for granted. Think about what originally attracted you to each other. Look back through old photos of the early days together. Remember how you’ve grown together and the little things that your partner enjoys.
Then do something nice for them. It may be making breakfast in bed, planning a weekend getaway, or watching the kids for a few hours while your better half has a day to themselves.
Tell them each day how much you love them.
Tip 3 — Savor the Small Moments
Small moments in life brings purpose. For me, it’s waking up early — before the dawn. I love walking when the moon and stars are overhead, watching the sunset, feeling a crisp breeze on an autumn day and savoring the company of old friends.
Try this tonight: turn off the TV, turn down the lights, light a candle, and relax to your favorite music playing softly in the background. Spend an hour doing nothing but enjoying this moment.
Tip 4 — Get and Stay Organized
Being unorganized brings about unneeded stress. When your things are unorganized, your life also tends to be. If your desk is a mess, clean it up before stopping work for the day.
Organize your old pictures by having them scanned to disk so that future generations can enjoy them. Store your pictures in a safe place and create a legacy box that your family members can share and enjoy for years to come.
Tip 5 — Travel and Experience Other Cultures
It’s fun to experience other cultures by traveling to lands we’ve never been. Each time I travel, I try to veer away from the resorts and meet people that live there. It’s fun to find local eateries and strike up conversations with the natives.
On more than one occasion, I’ve been invited to the home of locals when traveling abroad. People are proud and they want to show you their world. That’s when you really get to know the place you are visiting and can better appreciate it.
Tip 6 — Help Someone in Need
I’m sure you know of someone in need. A friend that needs comforting, a family struggling to pay their bills, or an organization that can use a helping hand. Make it a priority to provide assistance. Volunteering time is just as important as making donations.
