If there’s one thing that separates those who reach their goals from the rest, it’s discipline. In the end, the only skill that determines whether you accomplish your desires is whether show up, even if you don’t feel like it.

It’s not your talents, education, or passions that determine your progress; it’s whether you keep the promises you make to yourself.

And even though being disciplined might sometimes sound like a restriction, the reality is that it’s the key to freedom.

In 2013, researchers tried to find out whether there’s a correlation between happiness and discipline and if higher self-control would lead to more satisfaction.

The result? Disciplined people are not only more satisfied with their lives but also experience more positive emotions throughout the day.

Why? Because disciplined people are able to create a life they enjoy by doing what’s necessary. If you’re not disciplined, you won’t be able to achieve your goals and shape your life the way you want.

If you, however, keep your promises and stay disciplined even when things get tough, you’ll be able to achieve your goals.
