The Flow of God Is Within All Things
The word God in the Jesus stories is translated from the Greek word Theos (Thee-os), which can be translated as of God or The Flow of God.
Personally, I think the latter is the most profound. It defines God, not as something static, some man in the sky with a beard, but rather a divine flow, that is dynamic and moving in the world, today.
Literally, Theos or God can be translated to mean God is the light which flows through all things. It (not He) is the pulse of the universe that underpins everything in existence.
This is why the ancient mystics spoke of the importance of taking care of the earth and ALL beings on it.
All things are divine. All things are sacred. All things are the embodiment of God.
Being sustainable and embracing equality of all things are not progressive motifs. In fact, they are some of the oldest themes of the Christian tradition that were overshadowed by the empire of the church (see political).
To return to God or The Flow, we are called not to follow a set of laws but to dive into the Flow more deeply. By doing this, you will understand who you truly are within the Flow.
If you realize that you have never been separate from the Divine and could never be apart from the Flow, you may start delving deeper within to find the spirituality of all things.
Perhaps if the church had pushed out content about the Flow of all things and the Oneness of all beings in God, people wouldn’t have fled to the exits in search of something else.
But maybe the church needed to die, for God to be re-birthed anew.
“God is not found in the soul by adding anything, but by a process of subtraction.” — Meister Eckhart in Whom God In Nothing
According to the profoundly wise 13th century Christian mystic, Meister Eckhart, wisdom is not about addition, but rather subtraction. It is about removing the ego self from the center of your life and inputting the Divine Flow as the focal point.
Once you come to this realization, God stops being a man on a cloud somewhere issuing punishments.
The message becomes:
You are always with Me, and everything I have is yours.
Your inner essence has always been on the path.
Maybe your ego has taken you away from this, but you have never been separate from God. That would be impossible because God is that which is deepest within you.
If you feel like you are off the path, I’m here to say, come home.
Return to the Flow.
Immerse yourself in it.
Let it transcend your pain and bring your transformation.
That is the Gospel story.
