True peace is freedom and presence from worry, annoyance and disturbance. It’s not an escape from everything but peace with everything. It’s acceptance of the chaos but rising above it. It took me a while to accept that resistance is futile.

What I kept resisting persisted.

At peace with everything is that of consciousness where your level of peace cannot be disturbed by external influencers like desire, achievement, other people’s actions or even the highs and lows of emotions.

My aim has always been pure consciousness away from desire or the mind, unaffected by outside circumstances. “To attain true inner freedom, you must be able to objectively watch your problems instead of being lost in them,” notes the author of The Untethered Soul, Michael Singer.

Being at peace with everything changes your approach to life.

We can control very little in this world. If everything disturbs your inner peace, you will spend your whole life thinking the world is against you and feeling sorry for yourself.

Internal harmony, despite everything, is how you stay sane. It’s also how you find mental clarity.
