You are not alone

A poem by Jessica Semaan

You are not alone when you can’t stand being in your body

When the feelings hijack your soul, and leave you with no where to go

You are not alone when you can’t breathe

When your chest is erupting like the volcano, and it burns your skin alive

You are not alone when your tears dry out

When you beg for your spirit to rise up, and instead only drinking that spirit helps you rise

You are not alone when you can’t see the sun, the stars and the ocean they are talking about

When all you can see is the pitch dark abyss, and you watch yourself sinking deeper into it

You are not alone when you mouth is too dry to explain

Because you don’t even know or care to explain

You are never alone

Because I am here with you and I see you

I feel the suffering underneath your scars

I hear the screams behind your stinky breath

I see your agony in the darkness beneath your eyes

I know your pain in the silence we hide behind

Because I am here with you and I see you and I love you
