You Can’t Stop What’s Coming
It ain’t all waiting on you
There was a woman who didn’t return phone calls and her family grew worried.
The family lived outside the area and called our police department to report concerns. “She’s usually home by now,” they told our dispatchers.
There are many reasons why people don’t return phone calls.
Sometimes they oversleep. Other times they misplace their phone or want to be left alone.
Occasionally, it’s because something bad has happened.
Turns out, the woman lived in the unincorporated area of town, just outside our city, but we sent a patrol car anyway. Our patrol officer arrived at the driveway of the woman’s residence as the Sheriff’s deputy pulled up.
They found the woman’s car, the engine still running, wedged beside a row of metal mailboxes. The woman was slumped over, partially leaning outside her driver’s seat. The driver’s door was open.
She was deceased.
Death notifications are the worst
It took some time to figure out what happened.
Detectives arrived on the scene and investigated. They noticed where the rear tires had spun in the dirt. There was a contusion on the woman’s head…
