I’ve you are going to come to Lima, Peru I recommend you to go to the plaza of Barranco. There you will find art museums, the churche and great restaurants.
One of the main reasons to go to the plaza is for food. There is a wide and tasty variety of food restaurants that vary from typical peruvian food to gelaterias, peruvian/chinese food, Wingman and etc. I recommend you if you are willing to try typical peruvian food to please go to Isolina. It won the award of the best new restaurant of 2015. This is an advantage because most of the local don’t know yet Isolina so if you go there it will always have a table for you. The best part of the restaurant is that the dishes are so gigantic that they can be shared in between to people and their prices are fairly relative to the amount of food for the plate. Plates start at 25 sole, (7.41$) to 50 soles, which is (14.50$)If you do not want to devour immense and delicious plates or you just don’t want to eat peruvian food you may walk around the plaza and get to the mini restaurant area. In this area you will find quality fast food restaurants, such as the Burrito place, the Wingman and the Truth of the Milanese. From their you may go Blu which have the best natural Ice Cream in Peru. Even the most known Peruvian chef, Gaston Acurio, has said it is the best Gelateria in Peru. But enough about all the awards and prizes, but also I will tell you too go because it my restaurant and we are about to make for the first time since it was open any type of profit. But the plaza is not all about food.
Other reasons to go to the square is that it is one of the oldest and most appealing churches in Peru. The story of how the church was that in Barranco, fisherman used to go down to the sea to fish through the cliff. One day one of the fishermen had a vision in which he saw a cross. People saw this as a sign of god and this root to the ocean became a holy place. Locals went their to pray and ask favor to god. One day a baker named Caicedo was encouraged to go to his place to pray for his wife life as she was sick and their was no healing. Miraculously she healed and as a form of gratitude he built a small “ermita” in the holy place.During the war between Chile and Peru, Barranco was set on fire and most of it was lost to it. In 1881 the government decided to rebuild the church, this church is the one that we all know today. It has a exquisite and conventional pre colombino gallery. Pre Colombino is the visual arts of the people in the caribbean, north central and south america that lasted until the 15th and 16th century which was the arrival Columbus. The best part of this church is that it is found in the middle of the plaza. So it is the perfect mid spot to go wherever you want to, too the food restaurants or the art museums like MATE.

He is a Peruvian fashion, portrait photographer and contemporary artist. His work has appeared in magazines like Vogue, V Magazine, Vanity Fair and GQ. He has also created images for brands such as Gucci, Burberry, Versace,Michael Kors, Chanel, Estée Lauder and Lancôme. I also recommend you this place because from their you may go walk threw the malecon of barranco which haves one of the best views in Peru that will make you feel embodied and happy .Here is a picture of it. From there you have too decisions, first rest in the beautiful park or go to the Larcomar. El Larcomar is a hotspot for locals, having movie theaters and great restaurants. If you decided to shop it is also a great place to go shopping.
In the end I recommend you too please go to the plaza of barranco, not only because it has the biggest contemporary art museums, but because it has a beautiful church with many small but great restaurants.
