A Memorable Journey in the Historic Center of Lima

Historic Center Of Lima

“Travel brings power and love back into your life.” ― Rumi. You will definitely feel like this once you visit the Historic Center Of Lima. Once you take in the view, you will never want to leave. You are able to feel like you are traveling back in time when Plaza de Armas was founded. Lets not forget about the magnificent Teatro Municipal de Lima, where you are transported into other worlds full of grace and imagination. Last but not least the transformation of an old, unused train station, into an incredible library named Casa de la literatura. These are just a few examples of the places you can go in the Historic Center of Lima. After experiencing these areas myself, I can assure you it’s worth your time.

As soon as you arrive to the Historic Center of Lima you must go to Plaza de Armas. Plaza de Armas was founded on January 18, 1535 by the conqueror, Francisco Pizarro. It is the perfect place to simply walk around with your closest friends and family while enjoying the peaceful setting. You can sit under a palm tree and relax in the shade, or read one of your favorite books in the benches underneath the city lights. The best part of all is, everywhere you glance at, you can observe important monuments such as Government Palace, Cathedral of Lima, Archbishop’s Palace of Lima, the Municipal Palace, and the Palace of the Union. According to google reviews, the rating for plaza de armas is 4.3 over 5. In this theatre there is also ballet performances. There has been over a thousand positive reviews about Plaza de Armas, and I have to say I couldnt agree more. Not only this, but to visit Plaza de Armas you basically only have to pay for a taxi driver to take you, and if you have your own transportation you don’t have to spend any money! Isn’t that a bonus, you get to experience a fabulous time in a significant historic landmark for free! If that is not the perfect event, then I don’t know what is. After you spend your afternoon in Plaza de Armas you most should get tickets for once in a lifetime performance in Teatro Municipal de Lima.

Visiting Teatro Municipal de Lima is the next step to an unforgettable journey. Teatro municipal de Lima offers a night to remember. Once you enter the big metal doors, you see a golden staircase. It makes you feel like you’re in a magical fairytale. Up the staircase is the entrance to the performance area. I promise you, when the lights start to fade and the volume of the voices descend, you start to get butterflies in your stomach realizing, that the time has come to enter a world where all your worries are lifted and you are one on one with the arts. I have enjoyed some wonderful times with my family in Teatro municipal de Lima, and you will too because Teatro municipal de Lima makes sure that everyone is being satisfied. I have been able to appreciate many shows, and I believe that children from Lima should experience them too and take in some culture. Since the stories are meant for adults and kids. Which is why I believe that google reviews have rated Teatro municipal de Lima a 4.5 over 5. This is proof that if you’re in Lima, you can’t leave without first going to see Teatro municipal de Lima.

Last but not least I recommend you to visit Casa de la literatura. This is one of the places that impressed me the most, and i’m sure you’ll agree if you ever take my advice and go. The building was originally Lima’s main train station which opened in 1912. But since the beginning of 2007 the route has been re-established. Today Lima’s old train station was renamed to Casa de la Literatura, since it became a cultural setting and a library. The main activities of Casa de la Literatura are art expositions, conversations with authors, conferences, and much, much more. The goal of this transformation was to impulse the habit of reading to citizens. What an honorable objective, don’t you believe? Students and graduates feel like with all this knowledge that is being taught instinctively to people makes an excellent environment for studying and learning. Each room has revolutionized into interactive museums and a wide library. You might be asking yourself how much does a place like this cost? Well, Casa de la Literatura is public access, which means you don’t have to pay to get in! Isn’t that great? Now you don’t have any excuses to not visit this fascinating library.

After observing so much culture and knowledge I have to say this was one of the best days in Lima. According to Peru Travel “At every turn, the city reveals a unique combination of the modern and the historic, highlighting the preservation of its gastronomic, musical, dance, and other artistic traditions.” Who would want to miss that? I’m still dreaming about walking in Plaza de Armas, going to see the Nutcracker in Teatro Municipal de Lima, and listening to the audiobooks in Casa de la Literatura. I can assure you that the Historic Center of Lima is a place you don’t want to miss. So come, what do you have to lose, it is never too late to learn and have a remarkable time.
