What can be better than discover new things and at the same time feel like home?

As Gaston Acurio said,“Tanta is a place that offers quality and novelty rediscovering flavors”. Tanta is a stylish, home-made peruvian restaurant that make you feel like at home. One of them is located in Av. Pancho Fierro 115, San Isidro, Lima, Perú. It is known for the savoury delightful dish Lomo Saltado. Also, it’s known because the famous chef Gaston Acurio created it. I went there walking feeling mouthwatering imagining the dishes that I was going to eat later. When you enter the restaurant the smell of the food it’s going to transport you to another time when the incas prepared that meal.

We ordered some juices, a typical beverage of this restaurant. Also, we ordered Lomo Saltado, pollo & risotto, and classical ceviche. The lomo meat is smoothy and if you order it you are going to feel it melting in your mouth. Pollo&risotto is an interesting choice for those lovers of creamy rice, this touch of zapallo, or Peruvian pumpkin is probably the best of the meal, it’s like hearing angels singing. Last but not least, arrives the prince of the Peruvian fish meals: ceviche, of course. The ceviche is composed of a mix of medium raw fish, sweet potatoes, corn, onion and leche de tigre Do not forget to order a dessert to have a happy and sweet end. Do you want some advice? Creamy, soft and mouthwatering chocolate cake: its name “La cumpleañera”. If you eat the cake you are going to feel an explosion of different sweet flavours such as chocolate and caramel. Other options are Suspiro a la limeña and chocolate mousse. In the rating summary of the tripadvisor the food was rated as 4.5/5 ⅘ being 1 poor and 5 excellent, which means that most people love it.

What would be the best when arriving to a restaurant? Feeling like at home! Tanta means bread in quechua but also Grandmother’s home, and this is how they want you to feel. They meet this goal. As the manager revealed, the idea of this restaurant it’s to enjoy it like you are at home but with the efficient help of the waiters. The waiter is always ready to help you, whilefood decision making or with any doubt you may have. If you have some kind of allergy let them know and they will help you to choose the right food. This is my case and always I feel safe there! In tripadvisor the service was rated as ⅘ being 1 poor and 5 excellent.

There is a lot of contrast between the different colors of the decoration. You can appreciate mixed dark brown wood furniture with fluorescent colours (eg. pink, yellow, blue..). If you go during summer you should go on the terrace part but if you go winter you should go in the inside. There are some shelves on the walls with many Gaston Acurio books with his famous and traditional recipes. There is a large blackboard with recommended food and beverages in bright colors. My favorite part is the transparent fridge where you can see the desserts and some other dishes, feel the love that had been made and smell the fragrances. Other nice place is the Juices bar where the barman prepares the fruit juices. In the bar This bar is an explosion of colors, smells and feelings!!

This experience was definitely positive in all the ways possible. Only one word will define this experience: Awesome!!! or the Peruvian word: “Buenazoo!!” I’ve been there for the first time to try the peruvian food and I liked it so much that in 6 month I’ve been there almost 4 times each month. I recommend it to all people that want to try the peruvian food and doesn’t know where to try it. Don’t be afraid, just do it!
