They don’t look like they weigh that much do they?

They’re very muscular. Maus are large cats. But we had absolutely no idea that they were mau breeds when we got them. They’d come from Kuwait. Dahlia is melanistic, which can happen in any breed and means all black. Even her whiskers, nose, and toe beans are black. The only part of her that isn’t — is her blood-orange eyes. Though they always look different colors in pictures.

When they’re next to our domestic cats, Panther and Ember, you can see how much larger they are. Especially Dahlia. Kudu is very sleek and hides her weight well. She often shocks the vet into thinking their scale is broken. But if you’ve never seen her before or heard her story — you’re not crazy and the picture didn’t catch her winking. She only has one eye.

And yes, I got her catnip stuffed eyeballs as one of her birthday presents. Maybe it’s mean. Maybe it’s funny. Who’s to say?

I find it funny.
