Bredbandsval.se has raised over $800k in total. We talk with Alexander Widell, its CEO.

PetaCrunch: How would you describe Bredbandsval.se in a single tweet?

Alexander Widell: On a mission to find the best broadband service for each Swedish household.

PC: How did it all start and why?

AW: One of our founders, Henrik, moved to the city of Malmö and had a hard time understanding what broadband operators that could deliver services on that specific address. He started to dig a bit more and understood that the types of infrastructure provided on that specific address (fx. Fiber, cable or xDSL) gave him different connections types with different speeds possible and at different price points. He started to put it into Excel to compare them, but then thought he could find an online service that already had done this. As there was no such service available in Sweden he and our other founder Karl, decided to build this service.

PC: What have you achieved so far?

AW: The service launched as a beta in 2017 and have grown since then. We have on our product roadmap a release in the autumn of a B2B-service and a start of comparison of TV subscriptions for household as they also are address dependent in terms of what providers you can have.

PC: How will you use your recent funding round?

AW: Funding is mainly going into marketing of the service and product development. We will be the equivalent of four full-time developers during the fall to get the service to the level that we want it.

PC: What do you plan to achieve in the next 2–3 years?

AW: Full focus to get every Swede to enjoy the service. When the momentum in Sweden is up, we will explore other European markets to understand what our next country to launch in will be.
