LambdaTest has raised $1M in total. We talked with Asad Khan, its CEO.

How would you describe LambdaTest in a single tweet?

Online test infrastructure for both manual and selenium automation testing. No need to build in-house device labs to run browser tests on.

How did it all start and why?

If you have followed Adobe then you would know that they have done a tremendous contribution for the designer community! They collaborated various tools for unique purposes under a single roof, so designers don’t have to waste time wandering from one platform to another for handling their projects. I admired by how they did it, and being a tester myself, I wanted to offer a similar contribution for the tester & developer community. That is how the idea of LambdaTest hit the chord.

I took charge of managing my last startup 360Logica (a pure-play Independent Testing Services Company) for almost a decade and offering testing services of all kinds, to a global audience, I realized, that the major pain point for any testing team is an integrated platform. When you get involved in a release cycle, you have dedicated teams to perform various types of testing, to ensure that the product stays robust in front of your audience. And if you don’t have an integrated platform then chances are that your test cycles are going to be skip something important. I wanted to eradicate this hassle for testers, and so in early 2017, I came up with a team of talented individuals and shared my vision of building an integrated platform to perform both, automated & manual cross browser testing on cloud.

I already knew that the product’s demand is going to be immense after we go-live with it, and of course we wanted to market it well enough because it was meant to ease the life of a tester. Without wasting any time, I contacted everyone whom I had come in touch with during my past career to know their opinion on the idea. Thanks to my rolodex! The response was optimistic enough for me to get started with my vision and turn it into reality. Plus, I also collected multiple innovative inputs that would make the product, even more productive. We prepped up the product with a minimum viable features, in roughly 3 months time and it has been an exciting journey ever since.

What have you achieved so far?

LambdaTest was started in April 2017, it took around 6 months to build the product and make it live. The company was started with a team of 10 people and in just 2 years we now have over 50+ heads working continuously to make the product better.

We are trusted by 100,000+ users across 132 countries who utilize LambdaTest platform to make their website and web app cross browser compatible.

In December 2018, $1 million were invested by Leo Capital as a pre-series A funding which helped us to further improve our technological stack and expand into new markets.

LambdaTest platform is used by companies of all size, be it a SMB or an Enterprise. We are trusted by companies like Amazon, EBay, Accenture, Edureka, Newsela, and Scholastic to name a few.

What do you plan to achieve in the next 2–3 years?

In order to fulfil our vision, we have a very exciting and challenging roadmap ahead. We are working on bringing more features around web automation testing that will complement the current automation testing workflow. In addition to bringing big features like headless browsers for faster functional testing, we are also working on more plugins for CI/CD platforms, one-click integrations with more project management tools, and integrations with complementary platforms like testing frameworks.

We keep enhancing our roadmap and will add new features that will help testers and developers to make their life easier when it comes to faster product launch.
