PETCHAIN: Joel Sartore presents the Photo ARK exhibition in Madrid ESP/ENG

Today we want to talk to you about Joel Sartore, for those of you who do not know Joel, we can say that he is one of the most important photographers in the world. He’s specialized for more than 10 years in documenting landscapes and endangered species worldwide. And if it is not enough, we can currently find him collaborating with institutions such as National Geographic, Audubon, Geo, New York Times, Smithsonian as well as during these years has brought to light different books like “Photo Ark: A World Worth Saving or the already known RARE: Portraits of America’s Endangered Species.”

All these works by Joel, have had a huge and global impact, echoing in channels known as National Geographic’s Explorer, NBC Nightly News, CBS Sunday Morning, ABC’s Nightline among others.

There is a small text that has caught our attention and we want to share with you as a reflection:

“It’s crazy to think that we can destroy one species and one ecosystem after another and not affect humanity,” he says. “When we save species, we actually save ourselves.”

Now that we know a little more about Joel Sartore’s life, we encourage you to visit some of his latest works through the Photo Ark Exhibition that National Geographic Spain has brought to Madrid (Spain).

Photo Ark was born with the ambition of documenting all the captive species and trying to transmit to society the concern and the need to protect these animals for future generations. With the purpose of offering a visual impact, the objectives of photographing and documenting the species before it is too late as well as creating an archive of the biodiversity of our planet for future generations. Photo Ark wants to be a project as a platform of help for the conservation of the environment, offering innovative solutions to save endangered species and protect their habitat and ways of life.

The Museum of Science in Madrid will host this compilation of 52 images between October 5th 2018 and January 5th 2019, where visitors will be able to enjoy and discover the impressive biodiversity of our planet, thus offering channels of connection between human and animal society.

Photo Ark offers the opportunity to raise awareness among public of all ages about the current situation as well as the problems that affect animals on a daily basis and to find different ways of conservation to guarantee a continuity of the species in the future.

As Joel tells, in the near future and with the project completed, we will be able to enjoy images of more than 12,000 species divided into different classes, achieving in this way, to create the world’s largest photographic archive of biodiversity. Photo Ark, keeps making giant steps thanks in part to Sartore’s work as well as to the close collaborations with institutions, zoos and aquariums around the world.

A punto de acabar el mes de Noviembre, para hoy, tenemos preparado un articulo que esperamos que os guste así como os animamos a participar… Sin mas dilación, empezamos:

Hoy os queremos hablar de Joel Sartore, para los que no conozcáis a Joel os podemos decir que es uno de los fotógrafos mas importantes del mundo en el sector de la fotografía, especializado desde hace mas de 10 años en documentar paisajes y especies en peligro de extinción en todo el mundo si esto fuera poco, actualmente lo podemos encontrar colaborando con instituciones como National Geographic, Audubon, Geo, New York Times, Smithsonian así como durante estos años ha sacado a la luz diferentes libros como “Photo Ark: A World Worth Saving o el ya conocido RARE: Portraits of America’s Endangered Species.

Todos estos trabajos realizados por Joel, han tenido un impacto y repercusión mundial enorme, haciéndose eco en canales conocidos como National Geographic’s Explorer, NBC Nightly News, CBS Sunday Morning, ABC’s Nightline entre otros.

Hay un pequeño texto que nos ha llamado la atención de Joel y queremos compartir con vosotros a modo de reflexión:

Ahora que conocemos un poco mas la vida de Joel Sartore, os animamos a visitar unos de sus últimos trabajos a través de la Exposicion Photo Ark que National Geographic España ha traído a Madrid (España).

Photo Ark nace con la ambición de intentar documentar a todas las especies en cautividad e intentar transmitir a la sociedad la preocupación y la necesidad de proteger a estos animales para las generaciones futuras. Con el objetivo de ofrecer un impacto visual, los objetivos como fotografiar y documentar a las especies antes de que sea demasiado tarde así como crear un archivo de la biodiversidad de nuestro planeta para las generaciones venideras, Photo Ark quiere ser un proyecto a modo de plataforma de ayuda para la conservación del medio, ofreciendo soluciones innovadoras para salvar a especies amenazadas y proteger su hábitat y forma de vida.

El Museo de Ciencias de Madrid acogerá, entre el 5 de Octubre de 2018 y el 5 de Enero de 2019 este recopilatorio de 52 imágenes donde los visitantes van a poder disfrutar y descubrir la impresionante biodiversidad de nuestro planeta, ofreciendo así, canales de conexión entre la sociedad humana y la animal.

Photo Ark ofrece la oportunidad para concienciar a públicos de todas las edades sobre la situación actual así como los problemas que afectan a los animales diariamente y poder encontrar diferentes vías de conservación para garantizar una continuidad de nuestras especies en un futuro.

Según comenta Joel, en un futuro próximo y con el proyecto finalizado, vamos a poder disfrutar de imágenes de mas de 12.000 especies divididas en diferentes clases, logrando de esta forma, poder crear el mayor archivo fotográfico de la biodiversidad mundial, Photo Ark, sigue avanzando a pasos de gigante gracias en parte al trabajo de Sartore así como a las estrechas colaboraciones con instituciones, zoos y acuarios del mundo.
