PETCHAIN: Sam, the man who saved a whale at sea. ENG/ESP

Just 6 days ago, the well-known Spanish newspaper ‘El País’ revealed the surprising event that took place at the beginning of September on the coast of California, specifically in the well-known area of Morro Bay when we have seen whales and dolphins on other occasions.

It started when some of the crew of the ship, alerted by the strange movements made by the whale, they decided to take action and approach to see clearly what was happening exactly, it was then when they realized the problem that the marine mammal had. Because of a rope attached to one of the buoys in the area, the animal had been completely tangled.

It was then when the hero of the day appeared, named Sam Synstelien, lover of snowboarding and climbing, do not hesitate to take the knife he used daily to jump on top of the animal, weighing more than 30 tons and more than 15 meters in length. Sam could hold on long enough to support the movements of the whale and to cut the rope that surrounded his body. As you can see in the video, you can appreciate the tension of the moment and the danger of it, arriving at a given moment when he received a strong blow on the boat while they were releasing the mammal.

In Petchain, we love to know this news, this kind of people are the ones who can make this world something better and with more conscience… If someone had taken care to pick up the fishing nets, Sam should not have risked his life to save the whale… It is everyone’s job to make our animals’ daily life easier and better.

Hace justo 6 días, el conocido periódico español El País, daba a conocer el sorprendente acontecimiento que tubo lugar a principios de setiembre en la costa de California, concretamente en la conocida zona de Morro Bay ya noticia en otras ocasiones por el avistamiento de otras ballenas y delfines.

Todo empezó cuando varios de los tripulantes del barco, alertados por los extraños movimientos que hacia la ballena, decidieron tomar cartas en el asunto y aproximarse para poder ver con claridad que estaba sucediendo exactamente, fue entonces, donde se dieron cuenta del problema que tenia el mamífero marino, ya que por culpa de una cuerda atada a una de las boyas de la zona, el animal se había quedado completamente enredado.

Fue entonces, cuando apareció el héroe de la jornada, de nombre Sam Synstelien amante del snowboard y la escalada, no dudo en coger el cuchillo que utilizaba para su día a día, para lanzarse encima del animal, con un peso superior a las 30 toneladas y mas de 15 metros de longitud, Sam, pudo agarrarse el tiempo suficiente para poder soportar los movimientos de la ballena y poder cortar la cuerda que rodeaba su cuerpo. Como se puede apreciar en el vídeo, se puede apreciar la tensión del momento y la peligrosidad del mismo, llegando en un momento dado, a recibir un fuerte golpe en la embarcación mientras liberaban al mamífero.

En Petchain, nos encanta conocer estas noticias, este tipo de personas son las que pueden hacer de este mundo, algo mejor y con mas consciencia… Si alguien se hubiera preocupado de recoger las redes de pesca, Sam, no tendría que haberse jugado la vida para salvar a la ballena… Es un trabajo de todos hacer el día a día de nuestros animales mas fácil y mejor.
