Context & Objectives

Over a three-month period, our team at Hellon embarked on a project with a UN agency aimed at enhancing their ability to attract private fundraising partnerships exceeding $10 million. The project’s primary objectives were to distil insights gleaned from fundraising teams and to devise three innovative concepts for testing and refinement with high-value partners.

Role

I worked in a team with a strategy consultant as the project lead. We collaborated closely with a client team. My role consisted of:

  • Analysing interview transcripts
  • Writing and presenting an insights report
  • Co-planning and facilitating a remote client workshop
  • Developing and presenting concepts to the client

Approach

Overview of the project activities

A. I began by using Miro to analyse interview transcripts conducted with fundraising officers by the client team. I then created an insights report and presented this to the client.

B. I co-planned and co-facilitated a remote workshop with internal stakeholders. The aim was to generate ideas which responded to the insights gathered and which would attract more partnerships with a value above $10M.

C. I synthesised the ideas generated into a set of concept cards and presented these to the client. I then developed the concepts and added more detail to support the aim of testing the concepts with high-value partners at a later date.

Outputs

The outputs were an insights report and a set of three concepts to test with high-value partners.

Impact

Partnering with private donors helps the client to expand its work in meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Our project provided the client with a set of initiatives that aimed to attract more partnerships above $10M.

Reflections

Limited availability of the client team posed challenges in obtaining timely feedback, impeding swift decision-making processes. Moving forward, fostering greater collaboration and responsiveness from the client side would enhance agility and efficiency in project execution, enabling us to deliver even greater value.
