We all come across sayings that help us describe who we are, how we feel, or what keeps us going. I could write a whole paper on the quotes that reveal my feelings as a writer, but I don’t need to. It only takes a small handful to tell the truth about writing.

I am a writer

Some days one quote might be more accurate than another, but there are some that stick with me always. These two by Anne Lamott have helped me to solidly identify myself as a writer, rather than as a “wannabe.”

“You own everything that happened to you. Tell your stories. If people wanted you to write warmly about them, they should have behaved better.” — Anne Lamott

I write because I have to

These four quotes describe why I write in colorful detail. This is the drive behind my late nights researching and typing, my long social media posts, and my need to continuously describe, explain, and analyze anything and everything.
