Safety and Security in Smart homes
Our loved ones are treasured in our lives. All of us need security and safety to lead a life free of anxiety. Everyday the newspapers carry news of some mishaps. Most of such things happen, because of improper safety measures. We see that many are negligent about safety. This is due to the feeling that, “It may not come to me” predominates one’s mind, which is the right attitude.

One has to very careful about the safety measures to be taken. Many accidents occur because of LPG leakage and electricity leakage which may lead to fire. We hear and read about it through media. Many mishaps are due to LPG leakage which is heart breaking. Anyone who waits to go to bed at night after tiresome work schedule and home chores leave the safety knob in the gas cylinders open which may result in untoward incidents. Not only this, many forget to clean up the gas stove and change the gas tube frequently which leads to leakage in the gas tube also. Sometimes the flames are off due to the spillage of milk, water or some other foodstuff left on the gas stove to get cooked which leads to gas leakage.
A smart home abstains this mishap. Any leakage in the LPG is immediately sensed and a notification is received through alarms. A smart home also detects any leakage in electricity. There are many accidents happening due to the leakage in electricity. This is applicable to houses and industries, as well. Such leakage results in fire which reflects in loss of materials and most valuable human life. May God forbid, if the affected person is bedridden or becomes an invalid, it is a pain throughout the life. A smart home detects any electric leakage and breaks off the power supply immediately. At once safety alarms are at work.
Smart homes also alerts detecting smoke. For instance, if clothes are being ironed the person who is at work may leave it and may move away to attend a phone call or to open the door, when the door bell rings. He would have got engaged in the conversation forgetting what he was doing. The fabric by then should have got burnt and it emits smoke. At this situation the smoke alarms beep. The amount of safety that a smart home provides is mind boggling. There are no accidents happening due to leakage in electricity, LPG, smoke or fire. Smart homes are a blessing for a safe life.
Development in science and technology has paved way to all round growth. There is a remarkable growth in agriculture, industry, medicine, education and, what not. This is a platform for any educated person to become a professional and keep going up in career. Not only that the changing life style and increasing financial demands make all of us work. A son who goes for work is anxious about his old parents who are alone at home. He may be anxious if they had their food and medicines on time or he may be worried if the servant had come to take care of them.
Same is the case with a new mother. Before she leaves for work she craves for the safety of her child. In a smart home anyone leaves home with peace. The surveillance cameras monitor and record the movements of all at home. Once the old couple have taken lunch and medicines the son gets a notification to his mobile. He can anytime view what is happening at home using his mobile phone. A working mother has peace of mind at work. She gets notifications about the child’s movements and can see the baby with the help of mobile phone even when she is at work.
One need not worry about the security of the house. Once all the family members leave home the doors lock themselves up and the electric supply to all electronic appliances stop. If anyone tries to do with the locked door a notification is received on the mobile phone. The concerned person at once can monitor what is being done at home and seek the help of the police. Safety locks at home also have sensors that might at once alter the concerned person or accelerate alarms. So there is a no event of theft in a smart home.
