Dear Phamily:

Khala Network has won the 4th slot in the Kusama parachain slot auctions, with a winning bid of 132,280 KSM from 2,759 contributing addresses. At present, Khala has been successfully launched as a Kusama Parachain.

We will unlock 34% of the contribution rewards as scheduled, and will issue rewards for the previous testnet races and contributions.

To allow these rewards to be distributed before the ETH/Khala cross-chain bridge comes online, Phala will use Khala to mint tokens to generate these unlock rewards. When the ETH-Khala one-way bridge is online, Phala will charge the corresponding reward amounts from ERC20 PHA to maintain proper supply. The K-PHA（$PHA on Kusama, K is marked to the readers） in Khala and the ERC20 PHA are the same token, which will be exchangeable at a 1:1 ratio through a subsequent cross-chain bridge.

The Khala network does not currently provide a transfer function. We will decide whether and when to enable transfer through a referendum after removing Sudo.

2. How to Check Your Khala Crowdloan Rewards

This distribution will unlock 34% of slot auction rewards, this part is released to your account directly, no need to claim. The remaining 66% will be linearly unlocked to your Khala account over 11 months, it could be claimed in Phala Wallet. You can learn how to receive it in the following tutorial.

If you are contributing through a decentralized platform, the rewarded PHA can be staked for TEE mining regardless of whether it is unlocked or not. We will announce specific tutorials later; stay tuned.

If you participated in the slot auction through a centralized platform, please pay attention to announcements of reward distributions to know when and how to claim.

Open Khala’s subscan explorer, input your KSM wallet address or Vendetta testnet address (subscan will convert your address to Khala address automatically)

Click “Search”, if you are distributed the rewards, you will see the balance on the page, which includes total balance, unlocked balance and locked balance.

4. Khala Launch Roadmap

Looking at the Khala launch plan, we can see the journey is nearly half complete. Entering the mid-Jurassic Age, we will experience the following major events:

Launch ETH → Khala one-way bridge

Users will be able to transfer ERC20 tokens to a Khala account from Ethereum to prepare for TEE mining staking.

*Note: under the one-way bridge, tokens in Khala will not be able to be transferred back to Ethereum, and at this time, Khala accounts cannot transfer to each other (yet).

Appointment of members of the council

In order to ensure stability, security and rapid decision-making, Khala will directly appoint initial council members and Gatekeepers. Later, new members of the assembly and Gatekeepers will be appointed through democratic processes.

Referendum on new TEE token economics

Phala will propose the new token economics via the technical committee through democratic processes so that all token holders can vote on whether to pass this proposal. All referenda will be open for one week, and one week of public notice and execution time will be required after a referendum is passed. (For urgent proposals, after the council agrees, the technical committee can abbreviate the public notice period.)

If the proposal is passed, Phala will proceed to deploy the TEE mining system and staking mechanism; if the proposal is rejected, Phala will work with the community to revise the token economics and make a second proposal.

Remove sudo (super user administrator privileges)

Khala will decide whether to remove sudo through democratic governance. After sudo is removed, the core Phala team will completely lose control of Khala, and Khala will enter a phase of complete decentralization, with all functions and changes to be carried out through on-chain governance. Users, councils, and technical committees can all build Khala in the future through on-chain referenda. This sudo removal process will last 8–14 days.

Referendum on opening transfers

Through a referendum, Khala will decide whether and when to activate the transfer function on the Khala. This process will last 8–14 days.

Holocene age

After the Jurassic Age has passed, we will enter the Holocene age. At this stage, Phala plans to launch the ETH<->Khala two-way cross-chain bridge, release the PhaSe Wallet, add statemint tokens, and launch the XCMP cross-chain function in the wallet.
