The end of the year is undoubtedly one of the best times of the year for many people. But this year, COVID-19 is making it unlikely that things will be as much fun as they used to be. It has impacted a lot of lives around the globe, with no end in sight.

However, many companies are getting creative, finding different and better ways of doing things during this period. Safe office parties are top of the list. [Christmas] office parties are one of the few times employees come together, so it won’t be a good idea to cancel the celebrations. After such a bleak year, your office party may just be what they need to keep their spirits high.

Here are a few tips that can help:

Stay Up-to-date With CDC

Before and during planning, you should have CDC updates in mind. The number of COVID-19 cases is always changing, falling and increasing constantly with no known direction, only predictions. This makes it very unpredictable. That’s why it’s important to keep up-to-date with the CDC. You should also check local COVID-19 updates for your area. With this information, you’d know if it was worth it to go on with the party or cancel completely.

Encourage Social Distancing

Social distancing has been a crucial part of safety measures during the pandemic. It is therefore important that you maintain social distancing measures for all employees during your office party. Skip the hugs and use elbow bumps instead. Remember to always disinfect surfaces throughout the duration of the party.

Choose a venue and fun activities

The best venues will be places that are well-ventilated with several access points. Open spaces are usually the best during this pandemic period, but if it’s too cold, make sure the indoor venue is airy. People may be sad that there won’t be a lot of activities, but you can still have a virtual secret Santa, and employees can still give each other gifts. Explore other games that don’t require physical contact.

Finding ways to adapt to the current situation of things is how we grow and evolve. Companies should make great use of technology and become creative in helping their employees know that they matter, even in the midst of chaos.
