District Attorney Krasner Announces Rape Charges Following Attack in LOVE Park

Jane Roh, District Attorney’s Office, 215–686–8711,

PHILADELPHIA (February 6, 2020) — The District Attorney’s Office on Thursday filed rape and related charges against Quindell Campbell (DOB: 6/12/1996) for his role in a violent sexual assault against a woman in LOVE Park on the morning of January 25, 2020.

Campbell has been charged with Rape (F1), Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse (F1), Sexual Assault (F2), and related charges. Following his arraignment earlier today, a judge set bail at $2 million.

“This is a horrifying crime — the type of crime that tells women they are not safe in public in a free society. I thank the Philadelphia Police Department for their swift work in identifying this individual and securing his arrest and detention,” District Attorney Larry Krasner said. “It is important, however, for the public to know the reality of crimes like this: That in 2019, rape incidents were down 28% from 2015, and that ‘stranger rapes’ are relatively rare compared with much more common incidents of assaults by persons known to their victims.

“It is urgently important to resolve all violent crimes, particularly ones that are likely to spread fear among vulnerable populations,” District Attorney Krasner continued. “Women, girls, and all people deserve the right to walk to work or through a park at night without the threat of being harassed, abused, or attacked. The District Attorney’s Office will continue working with our partners in law enforcement and in the advocacy community toward ensuring Philadelphians are safe from sexual assault, abuse, and rape.”

The investigation into the January 25th attack is ongoing. The DAO Family Violence and Sexual Assault Unit will be prosecuting Campbell on behalf of the Commonwealth.

Victims of sexual violence are urged to contact the Women Organized Against Rape (WOAR) 24-hour hotline at 215–985–3333 for support, services, and assistance in reporting incidents to the authorities.
