PHILADELPHIA (Nov. 8, 2019) — The District Attorney’s Office has filed charges in the following cases:

  • Ernest Richardson (DOB: 01/07/97) has been charged for his role in a shooting near Warren G. Harding Middle School in Frankford of a 10-year-old child, who is in critical condition, on November 6, 2019. Richardson, the uncle of the shooting victim, was accompanying the child near Torresdale and Margaret streets in the afternoon when they were fired upon and the child was wounded, after which Richardson returned fire. Richardson has been charged with Recklessly Endangering Another Person; Violation of the Uniform Firearms Act sections 6106, 6105, 6108; and Possession of the Instrument of Crime. Authorities are asking the public for information that could help identify the individual(s) responsible for the child’s shooting by calling 911 or 215–686-TIPS. Philadelphia Police have released surveillance images of a red Pontiac G6 from which shots were fired.
  • Khalif Moore (DOB: 12/23/85) has been charged for his role in a fatal hit and run that resulted in the death of 26-year-old Michael Canals and his dog on the afternoon of October 26, 2019. Moore has been charged with 3rd Degree Murder, Homicide by Vehicle, Possession with Intent to Deliver Drugs, Cruelty to Animals, Fleeing Police, and associated charges. He has been arraigned and is being held without bail.
  • Peter Ricioppo (DOB: 03/21/88) has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Conspiracy, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person for his role in a multi-individual assault the evening of October 11, 2019, at Cookies Tavern in South Philadelphia. One victim was punched without provocation while playing a poker machine, and suffered facial injuries and a chipped tooth. That individual was then assaulted by a number of other individuals, including a man wearing a red shirt, who was later identified with the help of anonymous tips as Ricioppo. Another individual assaulted that night suffered severe head injuries and has been in a coma. Authorities are asking the public for information that could help them identify the other involved assailants, either by calling 911 or anonymously through the Philadelphia Police Department hotline: 215–686-TIPS.
