For the Commonwealth highlights the important work our prosecutors are doing to secure justice in specific cases brought by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. Today we highlight the work of ADA Amanda Makoid of our Family Violence and Sexual Assault Unit.

Thanks to ADA Amanda Makoid for securing justice for a young female survivor who was repeatedly sexually assaulted by a family friend when she was 5 and 6 years old. On Tuesday, September 4, 2018, the Honorable Jeffrey P. Minehart found the defendant guilty, following a bench trial, of Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse of a Child and related charges. The defendant lured her to him by asking her if she wanted to “play a game” where he would take her to other rooms and assault her.
